Is there anything left tax-free for staff?

Not much but let’s have a look.

Staff Parties

Once a year you can take the staff out for a £150 (including VAT) a head blow-out and not incur tax on the benefit.

Suggestion Schemes

Proper schemes where the awards are based on a percentage of the subsequent benefits of the suggestions enjoy tax-free awards up to £5,000.

Merit awards up to £25 are also free of tax.

Promotional Gifts

Staff may be given promotional gifts free of tax if the cost does not exceed £50 per person per year and must display a conspicuous advertisement. Gifts of food, drink, tobacco or vouchers are specifically excluded.

Long Service Awards

There will be no tax charge for gifts not exceeding £50 for each year of service and the employee has over twenty years service.
